Ningxia Shizuishan District Heating System Project developed by Xinghan Municipal Industry (Group) Co.Ltd. of Shizuishan City is a centralized heating system project with co-generation plant in Ninghui district of Shizuishan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in China.

The purpose of the Proposed Project activity is to introduce a new primary district heating system in Huinong District of Shizuishan City in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The new established primary district heating network is designed for utilisation of surplus heat from 2*300MW cogeneration power units at the Guodian Ningxia Shizuishan Power Plant. The  Project will construct a primary network pipeline with the length of 36.67 km and 64 substations, which will replace all the decentralized, old boilers with lower heating efficiency. Construction began April 2008 and will be commissioned in November 2008. For the reason that the Project Activity doesn’t supplying heat from heat only boiler (HOB), the boundary of the Project could include both new buildings and existing buildings.

The Project will supply heat to 3.8 million m2 in new building and 3.2 million m2 for existing building area individually, which adds up to a total of 3,366,514 GJ per annum. Ningxia Guodian Shizuishan Power plant started operation on 04/06/2004. No heat has been utilized from the plant until the primary work was starting construction in 2008. Through the implementation of the Proposed Project, surplus heat from Guodian Shizuishan Power Plant would be utilized.

The Project will contribute to sustainable development of the Host Country. Specifically, the project:

  • Decrease the SO2 emissions to great extent, and the level of CO2 and soot from stokers and industry.
  • Enhances the local investment environment and therefore improves the local economy
  • Improves the energy utilization efficiency, which is important for the sustainable development of the local and national society
  • Promotes the utilisation of CHP (Combined Heat and Power) technology
